This is urgent! Please don’t lay this letter aside!
We’re a month into the 2024 session here in Olympia, and Inslee’s allies are ramming gun control bills through committee faster than we’ve ever seen before!
In fact, by the time you read this, floor votes may already be scheduled on several of the bills described below.
I am counting on you to sign your petition right away, so your Senator and State Representative know exactly where you stand — and what you expect of them.
First, let me explain the caucus dynamics here in Olympia.
We have a small but bold conservative caucus made up of pro-gun champions who will always VOTE NO on gun control. Every time. Representative Jim Walsh is the leader of this group.
Then we have the Democratic caucus. This caucus has become totally radicalized and are taking their marching orders from Gov. Inslee and AG Ferguson. Their goal is to disarm all of us.
That leaves the Democrats in swing seats.
These politicians are 100% anti-gun, it’s true. But they love hanging onto power more. And insiders report that these members are very worried about having to vote for more gun control — especially with the General Election right around the corner.
So if you and I can put enough pressure on these swing district Democrats, we might be able to defeat these bills!
And let me tell you, we’re not just talking about ‘small’ gun control bills, as if there are any ‘small’ gun control bills.
This is the most coordinated attack on our Second Amendment freedoms that we’ve ever seen here in Olympia! While new bills are still being filed, we’re already dealing with:
- Representative Darya Farivar’s bill (HB-2054) which would make it a crime for law abiding Washingtonians to buy more than one firearm a month!
This is a vengeance bill. Gun owners bought AR-15s in bulk last year in advance of the AR-15 ban. Inslee is furious about it and is pushing this bill. It’s a total violation of Bruen.
- Representative David Hackney’s bill (HB-1178) which would repeal our pre-emption law, allowing every municipality in the state to pass their own gun control laws.
If this happens, every big city in the state would repeal ‘Shall Issue,’ outlaw Stand-Your-Ground law, and pass local gun control laws designed to ensnare law abiding gun owners.
- Senator Javier Valdez’s bill (SB-5444) which would declare most of the state a ‘sensitive area’ meaning concealed carry would be off limits in almost every commercial building in WA!
This bill would make it a crime for gun owners to carry in dozens of places across the state even if you have a concealed carry permit! Of course, this won’t stop a single criminal!
- Senator Patty Kuderer’s bill (SB-5963) which would require gun owners to carry civil liability insurance as a condition of buying or carrying a firearm!
This is totally unconstitutional and a violation of the Bruen decision. And, practically, it’s impossible since Washington State made it a crime to sell this insurance.
Each of these bills has already been heard in committee. In fact, Governor Inslee’s wife testified in most of these committee hearings. Clearly these bills are being fast tracked!
TAKE ACTION: SIGN YOUR PETITION!
Passage of these bills wouldn’t do ANYTHING to stop violent criminals. It wouldn’t even slow them down. We all know that.
Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver, and Tacoma, already have terrible gun control laws on the books, and they are some of the most dangerous cities in America!
Passing more gun control laws will do nothing to stop criminals. But the truth is that these bills were not filed to stop criminals.
The goal of these bills is simple: Jay Inslee and Bob Ferguson want to disarm every single gun owner in Washington State, just like tyrants have done throughout history.
We need to fight back and stop this! So please sign the petition that we have prepared for you right away.
Your petition reminds the politicians in Olympia that WGR members are watching, and we will hold them accountable in November for any votes they cast against our gun rights!

WGR is preparing a massive mobilization program with the goal of sending 250,000 calls, emails, and petitions opposing these bills into the legislature in the next three weeks!
We are doing this through a variety of tools.
First, we are using digital/social media ads to make sure that every gun owner in the state is aware of what these bills would do, giving them contact information for their legislators.
Second, we are mailing out tens of thousands of letters like this one to gun owners, giving them the facts about all four bills, with petitions for gun owners to send in against them.
Third, we are increasing the size of our email program. Our email program has pre-addressed emails that gun owners can send directly to their Senator and State Representative, making it very effective.
Fourth, we are using text-based mobilization alerts that push alerts right onto the phones of tens of thousands of gun owners, giving them a ‘one-click links’ that allow them to take action with the push of a button.
This program is going to be brutally effective and will send a simple message to politicians in vulnerable districts: if you vote for these bills, you can kiss your political careers goodbye!
But I can’t run this program without your help.
I know that’s a lot. But we must have the ammo we need to hold the line — and we need it now.
So if $100 isn’t possible, I hope you will strongly consider $75, $50, $25 or at least $17.76 so we can fight for you in Olympia.
